Not medical advice
Nothing on HospiceChaplain.org is medical, nursing, psychological, legal or financial advice. Questions about symptoms, medications or treatment belong with the patient's physician, nurse or hospice care team.
In a crisis
If you or someone near you is in immediate danger or thinking about suicide, please contact local emergency services right away. In the United States, you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
Spiritual care across traditions
Prayers, rituals and words of comfort are offered respectfully for use across many faiths and for those who hold none. Always follow the wishes of the patient and family, and consult their own faith leaders where appropriate.
Professional responsibility
Chaplains remain responsible for following their organization's policies, their endorsing body's standards and applicable law. News and policy summaries are informational and should be confirmed against the original source.
